Contrary to what I reported above, this game was NOT the Red Stars Green Game. Fans will still have an opportunity to bid on the beloved green jerseys at the next home game on August 22nd against Emma Hayes and the Washington Freedom. You do NOT want to miss this game!!!

Gerry Marrone, GM of Sky Blue, has just tweeted the following corrections: LeBlanc is not treated as an international - so she wouldn't require a slot. And we will have 24 games and the extended time frame this season - even with the loss of the Sol. So it looks like it's open season on LeBlanc and she probably won't be available when the Red Stars get to pick in the dispersal draft. And Jönsson still couldn't have played the whole season. Red Stars fans can stop wondering "what if?" now.

Karina LeBlanc, although being a Canadian international, was born in the US, thus keeping her from taking any team's coveted 5 intl slots. Just something further to complicate the pondering!

That aside, Atlanta lists 5 intls on their roster: Yamaguchi, Rasmussen, Bachmann, Nonen & Ocampo. They also only list one GK (not sure how they've gone this far with only 1?). They could still have all of those intl players AND kk.

If they don't sign Cristiane, it will be because her contract terms are prohibitively expensive, whether people pay to come out to see her or not. And yourself withstanding, most Red Stars fans do come out to see Tarpley and Rapinoe play. If you don't believe me, just think back to which players were consistently voted Red Star Player of the Game by the fans last season.

yes..it's about the team. Cristiane is a good player but you should not break the bank for her & if she really wanted to play then she would have already signed plus i don't see any other team going in for her. That tell a lot. Get a good striker from the draft or another international. There are plenty aroung who are good & cheaper.
